In parallel with the launch of its new anti-malarial Coarsucam™ Artesunate-Amodiaquine Winthrop® “ASAQ”, sanofi aventis, convinced that “drugs alone are not enough”, is helping African countries that are using “ASAQ” to train their health care staff in the proper management of malaria.

And so, following the Bujumbura (Burundi) and Kinshasa (DRC) sessions in February 2009, fifteen managers of health organisations and health districts got together in Conakry in July for a training session.
They were hosted by Doctor Moussa KEITA, Co-ordinator of the National Malaria Control Programme in Guinea.
Lead by an expert in the disease, Professor Masserigne Soumaré, Infectologist from the department of infectious diseases at Fann Hospital in Dakar, the course allowed the trainees to develop their knowledge on malaria and its treatments.
They were also able to increase their training skills thanks to the presence of an expert in communication. As such, they will in turn be able to pass on and share their knowledge with other doctors and carers.
Organised by the National Malaria Control Programme, in collaboration with sanofi aventis, this original approach can be transposed to other countries after adapting them to country-specific recommendations.
